Birds on the Masai Mara

Birds are bigger in Kenya too.

My bird photography is not great, sorry.  There are lots more birds, very colorful and magnificent and fast and they take off just as I am about to press the camera button.  Every time.

Grey Crowned Crane – Quite regal, don’t you think?
Saddle-Billed Stork – see that bit of yellow on the top of the bill?  It really does make for a lovely spot of color with the red contrast.
Secretary Bird – so-named because their feathers are long and quill-like.   They hunt insects and small rodents and mammals by stomping on them.  Yep, no slouches here.

Ostrich.  The male hangs out by himself a lot and doesn’t mind getting in the middle of a herd of topis or wildebeests or whatever.  I feel as though it might have an identity crisis at times and thinks it is an antelope.
Lilac-breasted roller.  This is a lovely bird in flight, all pretty colors.  The blue tail combines with a nice lilac further up and shines in the sun.  You will just have to take my word for it.
