NYC – Durban: Sept 29 & 30

The loooong day.  Fifteen hours from JFK to Johannesburg, and another hour to Durban on the Indian Ocean.

We read, nap, wiggle the toes, check the watch, study the flight map on the TV monitor … repeat and again.

Fortunately the weather was good, the flight was smooth and then it was over.  Johannesburg airport could have been any US airport – and we didn’t have much time to switch from International to Domestic – and then Durban was more of the same.

South Africans do have this habit of driving on the left side of the road.  Tricky.  So far Howard has turned on the windshield wipers three times to signal he wants to turn right.

The Oyster Box Hotel is lovely, right on the coast, and our room looks out onto a vintage, and still working, lighthouse.  Photos coming.

For now, looking into a good night’s sleep.  Zzzzzzzz.
